Age is a Detail, Not a Limitation

Youth and Earth's NMN campaign needed to speak to active, health-conscious women over 35. The customers actually buying longevity products, who are almost never the ones pictured selling them. The audience had to recognise themselves in the first frame, or scroll past.

Stock imagery of women over 40 tends to fall into two camps: clinical wellness clichés, or younger models styled to suggest age. Neither speaks to a customer who knows the difference. We took a different route, sourcing well-shot scenes of younger subjects, then using Nano Banana Pro and detailed JSON prompting to age them forward, and in some cases reworking the lighting to lift the frame entirely.

The Process

We started with curation, not generation. By selecting stock for composition, action, and mood first, and treating both age and lighting as variables to be edited, we unlocked a much wider pool of usable source material.

  • Source selection: Scenes with strong composition, real environments, and authentic action. A lifter at a cable machine, a runner mid-stretch, a woman braced through a leg press.
  • JSON construction: Each reference was broken down into a detailed prompt covering skin texture, hair, lighting direction, and grain. The goal wasn't to change the image. It was to age the subject without disturbing the frame.
  • Iterative ageing: Using Nano Banana Pro, we layered age in passes. Fine lines, softer jawlines, greys at the temples, while keeping pores, freckles, and sun damage exactly where they belonged.
  • Lighting elevation: Where the source frame was technically strong but flatly lit, we introduced golden hour treatment in the prompt itself. Warm directional light, longer shadows, that late-afternoon glow. The same scene, suddenly cinematic.

The Photography

The brief called for women who looked like the customer: active, capable, mid-life, and unbothered by being seen at this age. We wanted imagery that felt observed rather than posed.

Across the carousel, each product benefit was paired with a moment that earned it. Sustained energy got a track scene at sunrise. Faster recovery got the post-set breath. No gauzy filters, no soft-focus wellness gloss. Just real lighting and real-looking skin on women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond.

The Result

The final carousel walks the customer through the science and lands on the product without ever feeling like a pitch. Each frame carries a woman who could be the reader, not a 25-year-old standing in for her.

By treating ageing as a creative input rather than a casting limitation, we delivered a campaign that meets the audience where they actually are.

Take back control. Feel seen. Live longer.
