Sophisticated Art Direction for Uphold
How we brought Uphold’s Christmas campaign to life through premium 3D art direction, fusing travel, festive luxury, and crypto into a sleek visual world built to feel unforgettable.
Building out Finom's asset library was largely a materials problem. The brand has a strong colour world, pinks and violets with a lot of depth to them, and the challenge was figuring out how to translate that into objects that actually felt physical. We landed on glass and soft metallics as the primary surfaces. They respond well to light, carry colour, and there's something about translucency that suits fintech. Precise, but not sterile.
A lot of the work was in the lighting. Getting refraction to behave through glassy geometry takes time, and we went back and forth on it more than anything else. The difference between something that looks rendered and something that feels real is usually in the lighting
Holiday Travel
The card renders explored the overlap between travel, gifting and crypto during the holiday season. We kept the world dark, polished and reflective, using green light, glassy surfaces and orbiting forms to give the Uphold card a premium feel without making it overly festive.
Gifted Access
This direction treated the card like the object inside the gift, not just the payment method around it. We used the box, ribbon and green light to make the scene feel seasonal, but kept the materials dark and restrained so it still sat in Uphold’s world. The result was festive without leaning too far into Christmas.
Retail Moment
This render was about placing the card in a more everyday environment. The shopping bag gave us a clear retail cue, while the blurred lights in the background kept it seasonal without making Christmas the whole point. The card stays simple and graphic, with the green edge light doing most of the brand work.
