Uphold

One object, one story.

Uphold wanted to launch their card, and pretty much straight away it was clear this was going to be a product-first job. No big concept needed. Just the card, looking as good as it possibly could. So that's what we did, made the card the whole story. Usually you'd build a film around a product, with graphics and copy and UI doing the heavy lifting. We went the other way and cut all of that out. If something wasn't helping you look at the card, it didn't make it in.

What's left is pretty simple. Loads of space. Camera moves that take their time. And light that actually travels across the surface instead of just sitting on it flat, because that's the bit that makes it feel real, you can see where it catches, where it drops off, the way the colour shifts as it turns. We held every shot a beat longer than felt comfortable, which sounds like a small thing but it's the difference between glancing at something and actually taking it in.

The whole point was to make it feel tactile. Getting someone to sense the texture of a thing they're only ever seeing on a screen is genuinely tricky, and it turns out the answer is mostly just leaving stuff out and trusting the card to hold its own.
